Johnstown Castle In The News

The word has spread fast about the opening of Johnstown Castle as a Wedding Venue.  Back in July 2010, celebrity Ultimate Couple, Mark and Denise Duffield Thomas, aka The Honeymoon Testers, were the first couple to renew their vows after more than one hundred years of solitude. You can read their blog here and also watch their video. They were blown away by the beauty of the place and shared their views about Johnstown Castle in a recent interview with UK newspaper The Mirror, Australian magazine Woman's Day and their blog with US wedding site Get Married.com, giving the castle international exposure.

The Wedding Fair has also attracted a lot of interest. Matt Cooper on The Last Word on Today FM has interviewed Mark and Denise about the castle and its fabulous environment. He also talked about the Wedding Fair and explained about the opportunity for couples to come and view the Castle.

Beat FM has also being championing the Wedding Fair. A series of advertisements in support of the event has been running over the past few weeks to encourage locals, and not so locals, to come and view the venue. In the lead up to the Wedding Fair, DJs have offered free tickets to listeners. Rosemarie Meleady, The Wedding Planner, was interviewed on air and was able to talk about the fabulous stands and exhibitors.

Local papers have also got behind the new and exciting opportunities for Johnstown Castle. The Wexford Echo ran a two-page spread on the upcoming Wedding Fair, talking about the prizes and the discounts, as well as the wonderful activities and entertainment. South East Times and the Wexford People have also published news stories about Ireland’s newest castle wedding venue.

The Irish Times has also given Johnstown Castle national prominence.  In a wedding supplement, advertisements ran in the main paper and online promoting this very special event. Ultimate Job winners The Honeymoon Testers have also mentioned the charms of Johnstown Castle on their monthly piece for The Irish Times GO travel magazine.

Confetti magazine also covered the news in its Real Weddings annual issue, online edition and newsletter which goes out to the magazine’s subscribers.

Some of Ireland’s best known online wedding publications, such as Meleady’s The Wedding Planner, Wedding Dates and Irish Wedding Diary  also gave the Johnstown Castle Wedding Fair 2010 extensive coverage.

On the day itself, the Evening Herald sent one of its top reporters and the Echo Group also sent a photographer to capture some of the fun activities, listen to the singers and record it all for a news report in the papers afterwards.
